Opie was one of those bright, quiet lights who quietly lit the world around us all. We were in Charlie Renshaw's Contemporary Issues class together. On the water, in a boat and he was in his element. In my year book, across his picture, he scrawled ,"I love you!" It wasn't a real declaration but a signature of his spirit. His generosity and enthusiasm for relationships and life. He had an energy that was inclusive and accepting. I am grateful for having known him. Shelley, I send you and your family prayers for comfort and strength as you navigate the future without him. But know, without a doubt that he is watching over you with love and guiding you forward until you are together again. ??
Kathy had a quick and generous smile that was accompanied by a deep, throaty laugh. She was always about bringing people together, organizing our reunions and working towards remembering and honoring our Sing Out mentor, Angus McDonald. Kathy adored her family, and loved being with them, supporting them, helping out and finding joy in nieces and nephews. Her life was rich with love and she will be remembered as someone who carried and shared a light. We all live on through the stories that are told about us. So tell her stories, laugh and celebrate all that she was and all the ways she enriched the lives of those who called her family and friend. She was surely welcomed home by her God, her dad, and family and friends who have gone before her. I’m sure her welcome home party was a warm and loving one. Kathy, thank you for sharing your life with us. God bless you.
